Chan Chan

Chan Chan Archaeological Complex and Chan Chan Site Museum

Chan Chan is the capital of the Chimú kingdom that knew its maximum splendor in the 15th century, shortly before succumbing to the Inca Empire. It has been considered Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1986, thanks to the fact that it represents a singular artistic achievement, a masterpiece of human creative genius and provides a unique, or at least exceptional, testimony about a disappeared civilization. The site museum was created in March 1990 and is located in the eastern part of the Chan Chan Archaeological Site. The museum describes the pre-Hispanic cultural development of the La Libertad region from the first lithic artifacts to the ceramics of the Moche and Chimú cultures. It also develops topics related to agriculture, irrigation techniques and products grown in the Moche Valley. Likewise, it has a computerized room that narrates the origin and development of the Chimor manor. Currently you can visit the Nik An Walled Complex

The entrance ticket includes a visit to the Chan Chan Site Museum, Nik An Walled Complex, Huaca Arco Iris and Huaca La Esmeralda.
