Museo de arte italiano

Italian Art Museum

The Museum of Italian Art was inaugurated on November 11, 1923 and exhibits works of Italian art from the early 20th century. The initial collection was selected by the art critic Mario Vannini Parenti, who between 1921 and 1922, traveled to the country of Italy, where he acquired almost 200 works of art – including sculptures, paintings, engravings, watercolors, drawings and ceramics – of more than 120 contemporary artists, among which stand out: Giorgio Belloni, Italico Brass, Oscar Ghiglia, Gian Emilio Malerba, among others. For this reason, the collection of the Museum of Italian Art is a unique sample of art from the turn of the century in Italy, even though the avant-garde is not present.
